Vitiligo symptoms are very easy to distinguish on any individual who suffers from this condition. The main vitiligo symptoms are white spots or large patches of white skin that are essentially void of pigmentation. On a fair skinned person the contrast of the white patches and the normal pigmentation is not as clear as it is on a darker skinned individual.
Other vitiligo symptoms include itching of the affected area and a heightened sensitivity to the sun. It’s important to note that the white spots or patches of white skin are not an illness will lead to disability or death. The vitiligo symptoms are primarily a dermatological condition, which can be severe in certain individuals thus causing extreme psychological distress.
Often times the white spots or white patches of vitiligo symptoms can come and go on their own over time. This has been my experience. I have a very mild case of vitiligo and when I was younger I had a few spots under my chin that went away as I got older. Now, I only have some spots in areas that are not exposed publicly and as a result to not cause me much grief.
For those of you who have serious vitiligo symptoms with large parts of your body or your face affected, you have my sympathy. I can only imagine how devastating it must be to have severe vitiligo symptoms where large portions of your face are involved and there is no way to hide your condition from the world.
Because my vitiligo has been relatively minor, I have not had to seek out medical help for my condition. On the other hand, my mother had suffered most of her life with the type of symptoms similar to the picture of the gentlemen at the top of this website. She had white spots on large parts of her hands, arms and legs. Over the years she has tried many different types of treatments including medications in conjunction with ultraviolet light or sunlight.
Because of the hassle of most of these treatments she would generally stop after a period of time.
