The loss of skin pigment on an otherwise healthy individual is usually a sure sign of a dermatological condition known as vitiligo. Vitiligo occurs throughout the world in all cultures and all countries with estimates that as many as 1%-2% of the world’s population has some form of this condition. If vitiligo is mild there is only a minor loss of skin pigment. However, in more severe cases vitiligo can cause major loss of skin pigment with resultant cosmetic disfigurement.
Research indicates that vitiligo causes loss of skin pigment because the cells that are responsible for skin pigment die or begin to function abnormally. It is hypothesized that an auto immune or inflammatory disease process is responsible for vitiligo. It’s important to understand that the white spots or white patches of skin that are the hallmark of vitiligo are not medically dangerous, although there may be some itching and sun sensitivity.
The damage that is done by the loss of skin pigment with vitiligo is to a person’s psychological state of mind. Vitiligo can be devastating to an individual when there is major loss of skin pigment on the face, hands or other areas of the body that cannot be covered up and are always in public view. Also, the contrast of the loss of skin pigment is more noticeable on a dark skinned individual as opposed to a fair skinned individual.
As someone who suffers from vitiligo myself, I have great empathy for those who have serious vitiligo. Fortunately, my loss of skin pigment is only mild and much of it has reversed, as I have gotten older. When I was 16 I noticed some white spots under my chin and on other parts of my body that are not normally viewed by the public. I panicked a little because my mother had a more severe case of loss of skin pigment due to vitiligo.
As mentioned, I haven’t had to seek medical treatment for vitiligo because my condition has been mild. On the other hand, my mother had much more loss of skin pigment on her hands, arms and legs due to vitiligo. She had tried various types of medical treatments throughout the years without much success.
A couple years ago she tried a new natural product called Anti-Vitiligo and has had significant progress since beginning treatment. The product has a moneyback guarantee and I suggest those of you who have failed other treatments or are looking for your first treatment to give this product a try.
